Memorial Grants and Subsidies Limits
(approved 2001 AGM)

All within Queensland, on a dollar-for-dollar basis with the upper limits shown.

There is an overall maximum limit per organisation of $10,000 in any one year.

Repairs to existing memorials and cost of moving to more suitable locations $2,500
Major repairs to War Memorial Halls (not including painting and routine maintenance) provided the halls are associated with holding of ANZAC Day observances, but including painting in the event of natural disaster $2,500
Locked glass cabinets containing memorabilia of wars in which Australians have served, provided the cabinets are in museum type buildings which are from time to time open to the public $1,000
New honour boards $1,500
Repairs to honour boards $1,000
Headstones of graves of ex-service personnel not covered by the War Graves Commission (new or previously unmarked) and repairs $250 per headstone

(limit of $1000 per cemetery per year)

Bronze memorial badges for grave and crematorium niche marking of Australian returned servicemen whose demise cannot be attributed to war related causes accepted by the Department of Veterans' Affairs Free of charge
Grave and Crematorium Niche Memorial Plaques for veterans who die from other than war related causes. Next of kin or Service organisation are expected to fund half the cost ($65.50)

50% cost donation

Grave Site Subsidy for veterans who die from other than war related causes. When combined with the Grave Memorial Plaque the subsidy is reduced to $185.50

Special Considerations. Should exceptional circumstances arise, the Executive may make a special submission to ADCC members by post instead of deferring it for special consideration at the next AGM.


Applications for grants and subsidies should give details of:

  • quotations or invoices for projects,

  • local council project approval (where applicable),

  • confirmation that new memorials and halls will be and extant halls are associated with ANZAC Day observances,

  • evidence that applicants will provide funds on a dollar for dollar basis to match grants or subsidies, and

  • support for the annual ANZAC Day badge appeal.

Photographs are required to support renovation applications and also for completed projects.
